ROOKIE OF THE YEAR - SABRINA MATSUDA, GERMAN TEACHER AT yorkville high school & yorkville middle school

Frau Matsuda is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is an incredible role model and influence on my life.

My entire freshman year was e-learning. The first zoom meeting we had for German class was short and sweet, but she zoomed with every single person individually to make a connection. There were days I had no motivation to get up and do my work since I wasn't in a school environment. Frau Matsuda was the only teacher I had at the time that kept me motivated. German was my best class because she cared more about my mental and emotional health than how much work I got done each day. She emailed me at least once a week to check up on me and make sure I was doing ok.

This year, although I only see her for German Honor Society, she is still the person I would go to if I ever needed it. Frau Matsuda is an amazing teacher who makes a confusing language make sense, she makes me feel appreciated by reminding me there is someone in this school I can trust.
